Ballia, Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh minister Anand Swaroop Shukla on Sunday called West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee an “Islamic terrorist” and said she will have to take refuge in Bangladesh after the assembly elections in her state.

“Mamata Banerjee has become complete Bangladeshi and is working on the directions of Islamic terrorists there. She has become the biggest danger for the country. After her defeat in West Bengal assembly polls, she’ll be ready to take refuge in Bangladesh,” said the UP Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs.

The UP minister went on to allege that the West Bengal Chief Minister “does not believe in Bharatiyata (Indianness)” and insulted Hindu gods and goddesses. “She is an Islamic terrorist. She has worked to break the temples and insult gods and goddesses in West Bengal. She is acting at the behest of Bangladesh,” he said.

The minister further said the Muslims who say “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram” will be honoured in the country.

Anand Swaroop Shukla known for controversial remarks

Shukla is known for making controversial statements as he had earlier remarked that country’s first Education Minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad had no ‘Indianness’ in him. Speaking at an event in Ballia, Shukla had said, “I have no hesitation in saying that in the heart of Abul Kalam Azad, there was no ‘Bharat aur Bhartiyata” (India and Indianness).”

The BJP leader had also claimed that when Kashmiri pandits requested Guru Tegh Bahadur to save them from Aurangzeb, who was pressurising them to embrace Islam, the Guru went there and was beheaded by him.

“These facts were removed from history, apparently at the behest of the first education minister. The only thing which is there is that Akbar was great despite the fact that Ain-i-Akbari and historians of that time never considered him great,” Shukla had added.
