CHICAGO (CBS) — Since the start of the pandemic, there’s a big change for the Chicago Police Department. We examined data showing a decrease of more than 50 percent in investigatory stops — a process in which officers stop and question someone suspected of a crime.

Chicago Police investigatory stops dropped from 3,500 from the first week in March to fewer than 1,000 at the beginning of April. At the time, it was the lowest ever tallied.
